Apple requires all publishers of an iOS App to publish under their own account. This rule is in effect since September 2018
Please note: This is not required for the Android version of your app.

Unfortunately, we are not able and not allowed to set up the Apple App Store account in your name. Apple requires you to apply for the account yourself.

If you buy the app for a third party, this party needs to enroll for the Apple App Store Account itself. Apple does not allow for applying on behalf of another company.

This process will take about 30 minutes to finish the account creation. However, as you'll need Apple to review the information, the whole process can take several days to finish. Once your account is available, we need to coordinate for some settings.

HOW TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH APPLE:

Please follow these steps:

Please read this article for detailed instructions on the to dos. If you need any help during the setup process please contact us and we can schedule a call to go over this together.

1. Enable an Apple ID with two-factor authentication with an iOS device

1.1 Register for an Apple ID

We strongly advise using a shared company Apple ID for enrollment instead of a personal one. If you already have a company Apple ID, please use that one. If you don’t have an Apple ID, create one at Apple's website.

>>> Register for an Apple ID here.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Name of the person in whose name you want to create the account

  • Date of birth

  • Email address to which you want to connect the account to

  • Phone number

As Apple needs the mail address as well as the phone number for the two-factor authentication please make sure you can access the inbox and have the cell phone at hand.

Important:
Store your login credentials securely as you'll be required to log in from time to time.

1.2 Enable Two-factor authentication (2FA)

If you already have a company Apple ID, most likely 2FA is enabled already.
In doubt, check your setting as follows:

  • You can check your security settings by signing into iCloud on an iOS device with the Apple ID that you use for your new account.

  • If 2FA is switched off, enable it by turning it on as follows:

If you're using iOS 10.3 or later:

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security.

  2. Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.

  3. Tap Continue.

If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier:

  1. Go to Settings > iCloud.

  2. Tap your Apple ID > Password & Security.

  3. Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Tap Continue.

How can I enable 2FA on an iOS device on which a different Apple ID is already used?

  • Sign out with your old Apple ID out of iCloud on your iOS device at Settings > iCloud > Sign Out. Sign in to iCloud on your device with your new Apple ID.

  • Then proceed as indicated above.

2. Find out your DUNS number

The DUNS (Data Universal Numbering System) is a registration number to identify companies and organizations. You will need this number later to enrol to the Apple Developer Program which enables you to publish your app.

  • In doubt of your DUNS number, please look up your DUNS number here:
    >>> DUNS website.

  • If your company does not have a DUNS number yet, you can apply here:
    >>> Application website.
    This will take approximately 14 days to be issued.

3. Enroll in Apple Developer Program

Please enroll to the Apple Developer Program here to be able to publish apps to the App Store.
>>> Apple's Developer Program website.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Apple ID with 2FA enabled

  • DUNS number

  • Name of the person in whose name you want to enrol in the program

  • Date of birth

  • Phone number (Apple will call you on this number to verify your application and you as a company)

  • Mail address

  • Correct company name (If your company name has special characters like "ä", simply replace it with the non-special character "a", do not use "ae")

  • Company address

  • Website URL

Apple will call you 1-2 days after the enrollment on your landline to confirm your application.

These are typical questions, they might ask you to confirm your request:

  • Did you request the account?

  • Are you an employee of your organization?

  • Do you have the rights from your company to request the enrollment?

  • What do you need the account for? (= you want to publish an app for your guests).

  • If you miss the call, Apple will send you an email allowing you to request a new call.

As soon as this process is finished please add a valid credit card for the annual fee of 99 USD.

4. Grant Hotel MSSNGR access to the Apple App Store account

Last step! Please grant Hotel MSSNGR access to you Apple App Store account. This is how:

  1. Log into your app store account here:
    >>> Login.

  2. Go to "Users and Access".
